Volleyball

Volleyball in Nintendo Switch Sports.

Volleyball is one of the 7 available sports in Nintendo Switch Sports.

Gameplay[]

The objective is to score 5 points by hitting the ball into the other team's court. It is a teamwork-centered sport, where you both need to work together to score. Each team has 2 players. Each time the ball hits the ground in one team's court, the other team gets a point. Similar to online Tennis and Badminton, if both teams are tied and one point is needed for either team to score, a Deuce occurs, where either team needs to score 2 more points without being scored on to win. If the score reaches 6-6, the team who gains the next point wins the game.

Moves[]

Serve[]

Hit the ball at the beginning of the turn. Starting from version 1.2.0, Rocket Serves can be done by hitting the ball at its peak.

Bump[]

Hit the ball to your teammate, to let them set.

Set[]

Hit the ball straight up, to your teammate, letting them spike.

Spike[]

Jump up and hit the ball into the other team's court. You can also do a quick spike by jumping just before your teammate sets the ball. Starting from version 1.2.0, Slide Attacks can be done by moving the control stick left and right after bumping the ball. The words "Slide Attack" will appear on top of the player's head and they will move to one side of the court before spiking if done correctly.

Block[]

Block a spike. You can use the control stick to move around while doing this. To block Slide Attacks, move towards the opponent getting ready to spike the ball.

Easter Egg[]

In the 1.2.0 update, if you hold the L and ZL or R and ZR on your Joy-Con while choosing a CPU strength in Match Settings, Lucía and Yoshi will be your opponents. The two of them look a little different than their original design. Their titles will be Legend. You'll be partnered up with a Sportsmate named Megan, whose title is "Staffer".
