The minigame's thumbnail.

  • A smiling Mii's face doesn't have to be centered in looking at the camera for it to count. The faces of the Miis actually go through a few frames before making another facial expression. After they're done looking away from the camera, they will start to smile again and go back to look at the camera.

  • It is very rare but possible to get a perfect (8 smiles). It is luck-based and it takes usually less than 1 second for it to last. Master Miis do not gain their opportunities to get a perfect image since the expected number of smiles they get is 5-6 smiles.
    Perfect Image (Smile Snap)

    Example of a Perfect Image

  • If you fail to take a picture within a time limit, you get a blank image with gray background. You also automatically get 0 as a score since there are no Miis.
  • In rare cases, a Beginner Mii can do better than a Master Mii in this minigame. While their expected values of each difficulty are different of each other, there are times where a Beginner Mii gets six or seven smiles, winning against the Master Miis.
A time where a Beginner performs better than a Master (Part 1)

Example of two Beginner Miis, Mike and Shohei, who got at least 6 smiles.

Master Miis' Expected number of smiles

Pierre and Stéphanie got 6 smiles. Steph got 5 smiles.

  • The expected number of smiles a CPU can get is determined by its difficulty (and calculating its interquartile range):
