Punch Dunk (Knock Out in EU version) is a 1 vs Rivals Minigame in Wii Party U.
Gameplay[]
The player using the Wii U GamePad controls two towers with extendable boxing gloves attached to them, and must use them to punch the rival players off the platform and into the pool. If at least one rival can remain on the platform for 30 seconds, the whole team wins.
Controls[]
- GamePad: Use both joysticks to aim the gloves, and press ZL/ZR to make them throw punches.
- Rivals: Hold the Wii Remote horizontally, and use the D-Pad to move.
Trivia[]
- The solo player can be seen operating the extendable gloves using a white GamePad in a beach chair in the back.
- The NTSC name is a pun on the boxing term punch-drunk, where the opponent suffers head trauma after multiple punches to the head.
- It's possible this was changed in the PAL version to remove the reference to drunkenness, despite being in a form not imbued by alcohol.
- The spectators will be wearing either swimsuits or short-sleeved plain clothes, and their positions and costumes will be randomised with every play.
- Chris appears as the GamePad player in the instructions, as he can be seen on the beach chair. Frank, Claudia, and Polly appear as rival players.
