What are METs?

METS show the intensity of an activity. One MET equals the energy spent sitting still. For example, Super Hula Hoop in Wii Fit Plus is an activity worth 4 METs. This would be equivalent to a gentle stroll or a round of golf on foot. So if you know thr MET value of an activity... you can work out the calories burned.

Formula

METs * Your Weight * Time(hours) * 0.48 = Calories Burned.

Eg. Super Hula Hoop is 4 METs. If someone weighing 9 stone 6 pounds did it for 30 minutes... That person would have burned 126 calories. (4METs * 9st6lb * 0.5hrs * 0.48 = 126kcal).
