Lumber Whacks (カラテマスター (Karate Master) in the Japanese version) is a 1 vs 3 Minigame in Wii Party.

Introduction[]

The camera will zoom in from the foliage behind the team, then focus on the solo player as they punch one log thrown by the center team player, then two at once from the players at the sides.

Gameplay[]

The solo player must defend themselves from the logs that the team of three throws at them. To do so, they must punch and kick the logs thrown at them to avoid being hit and losing hearts. The team members can throw logs fast or slow.

If the solo player has at least one heart remaining after 30 seconds, they win. However, the team of three wins if they defeat the soloist by taking all three of their hearts.

TIP: If the solo player misses an attack, they will be left open for a moment.

Controls[]

  • Soloist: Swing the Wii Remote at the right time to attack the flying logs.
  • Rivals: Swing the Wii Remote to throw logs. Hold A when you swing for a faster throw.

Ending[]

If the solo player wins, all logs will disappear, including ones the team are holding. The soloist will assume heiko dachi (parallel stance), followed by the team players. If the team wins, the solo player will fall onto their behind, dazed.

Trivia[]

  • The word "whacked" being changed to "walloped" in British-English versions of the game's rules may have been to lessen the violent impact, due to Europe's stricter rating guidelines revolving around violence in video games, even if cartoonish.
  • All players have floating hands both in-game and in the results screen, though the soloist possesses uniquely fingered hands, whilst the team merely have traditional orbs.
    • The fingered hand's model appears to be reused from the "Hand Clap" instrument in Wii Music.
