Jumbo Jump (ぎりぎりスキージャンプ (Closest Ski Jumping) in the Japanese version) is a 4-Player Minigame in Wii Party.

Gameplay[]

The players must cover as much distance as possible skiing down the ski jump, launching at just the right time to make the best jump.

In the ending scene, the player with the highest score will jump and wave happily to the crowd, while the player with the lowest score will be disappointed.

Controls[]

  • Hold the Wii Remote vertically and aim it up or at the sensor bar. Swing it to jump.

Default Rankings[]

These are the default Rankings for Jumbo Jump. These rankings are all set by CPU Miis.

The default record for 1st in this minigame is set by Pablo, a Master Difficulty CPU, with a distance of 415 yards/meters.

  1. Pablo (415 yd./m.)
  2. Silke (410 yd./m.)
  3. Ai (400 yd./m.)
  4. Chris (395 yd./m.)
  5. Marco (390 yd./m.)
  6. Oscar (385 yd./m.)
  7. Miyu (380 yd./m.)
  8. Mia (375 yd./m.)
  9. Shohei (370 yd./m.)
  10. Alex (365 yd./m.)

Trivia[]

  • If any players fail to jump, their Mii(s) will fall right into the snow. At the ending scene, the Miis will be curled up in snowballs, with their heads and feet sticking out. Cartoonish bouncing sounds will omit from their Wii Remote(s) when this happens.
    • If all 4 players fail to jump, the camera will follow them down as they drop and become snowballs. The typical ending scene won't appear in this case.
  • The Miis that appear in the preview for this Minigame (the video shown at the left of the rules) are Miyu, Giovanna, Naomi, and Nick on the PAL version. In the NTSC version, the Miis are Ryan, Hayley, David, and Silke.
  • Distances are measured in yards in the NTSC version, and in meters in the Japanese and PAL versions, although there is no actual in-game difference between the two.
  • The maximum score is 464 meters on the 50 hz PAL version of the game, but 449 yards (meters) on the NTSC, and 411 meters on the 60hz PAL. This is because of framerate differences.
    • Thus, the default record is impossible to beat in 60hz PAL editions.
  • There is actually a separate model for this Minigame that has just a helmet and no arms, with floating hands. Which means the Miis originally didn't have arms during the development and just floating hands like in previous Mii games.

  • It does not matter how hard you swing the Wii Remote; the distance you go is based on how close to the end you swing.
  • Jumbo Jump is strikingly similar to Ski Jump in Wii Fit.
  • This minigame uses a shortened version of the song found in the minigames Dicey Descent/Paddle Pals. Both the shortened version and the full version also appear in the minigame Flycycle Team.
