The Classic Controller is a specific controller type for the Wii. Some Wii games require a classic controller to play, or allow for gameplay with more than just the regular Wii Remote. All GameCube games and the majority of Virtual Console games require a classic/GameCube controller to play them. Examples of these controllers are the GameCube controller, the Nunchuk connected to the Wii Remote, and the aptly named Wii Classic Controller. A strong example of a game using this controller type is Mario Kart Wii, which allows for the use of classic controllers instead of motion controls with the Wii Remote on its side.
