Chop Chops (早切りベジタブル (Quick Cut Vegetable) in the Japanese version) is a 4-Player Minigame in Wii Party. The name of this minigame is a pun on the phrase "chop chop" which was first noted in the interaction between Cantonese and English people in British concessions in Southern China. It spread through Chinese workers at sea and was adopted by British seamen. "Chop chop" means "hurry" and suggests that something should be done now and without delay.
Gameplay[]
Players must be the first to chop through their vegetable (an onion or a carrot) to the very end. Whoever chops it until it is gone first wins.
Controls[]
- Hold the Wii Remote vertically and swing it down to chop.
Glitches[]
- When the Miis chop onions, they appear to cry. Even after they've finished chopping the onion, there will still be tears coming out of their eyes.
Trivia[]
- The Miis crying over chopping onions was later referenced in a Cooking Class Outing event in Miitopia for Nintendo Switch.
- It takes approximately 60 chops to completely dice the onion, and 80 chops to dice the carrot.
- It also takes approximately 18 chops of the onion in order for the Miis to start crying.
- The default time for the Minigame is 5 minutes; the timer only shows up during the last 10 seconds.
- The order and time in which every Mii gets ready to chop is always random.
- The Miis shown on the example video on the rules section of the minigame are Matt, Rachel, Steve, and Helen.
- Barbara also appears in the controls section, crying whilst chopping an onion.
- The Miis have spherical hands during the minigame. In the results screen however, their hands appear normal and they have arms.
- Even if the Miis are wearing glasses and sunglasses, the Miis will still cry when chopping onions (as shown in the picture on the infobox, where Jackie and Akira are seen crying while chopping onions).
