Catch a Wave is a 1 vs Rivals Minigame in Wii Party U.
Gameplay[]
In this game the solo player must project their voice to the Wii U GamePad's microphone to control the vocal platform that the rivals are on. This causes the platform to spring upwards, and into the electrical current above. If the solo player launches every rival into the electric current within 30 seconds, they win.
The rivals are put on the vocal platform below the electric current, and must stay out of the path of the rising parts of the platform. If they get pushed into the electric current, they are eliminated for the rest of the Minigame. If at least one rival is left remaining after 30 seconds, the rivals win.
Trivia[]
- If the solo player is a CPU player, there will be sound effects (a high pitched voice for a female CPU Mii and a low pitched voice for a male CPU Mii) that play to guide the human players. The sound effects will not play if the solo player is controlled by a human however.
- If this minigame is played during a TV Party mode, it will tell the solo player (if they are controlled by a human) that they need to use their voice to play the minigame. They can either accept or decline playing it. If the player declines, a different minigame is chosen at random.
- This is the only minigame in Wii Party U where Miis can get electrocuted. In the original Wii Party, this could occur in both Dicey Descent via thunderclouds, and Pearl Plunder via jellyfish.
